“Not knowing” is often a socially acceptable way to avoid going after what you actually want out of life.

If you've been trying to find your direction, passion, or purpose, but always come up short, I want you to hear this clearly: You are not a failure. You are not behind.

You're not going to end up alone, and I promise you that your life isn't going to be one big disappointment. You will have a beautiful existence. You will live a life that makes you excited to get out of bed in the morning, and I'm going to help you remember how so you can start taking actions that empower you.

The truth is, you may not know exactly what you're doing with your life, but you do know what you want from life. You're just afraid to admit it.

Some of us hide behind the statement “I don't know” because deep down we've been shown that what we want is unimportant or worse, impossible. We've been trained by disappointment, conditioned by letdowns, and taught that if we dare to want more, life will slap us down again and again. So instead of being honest, we cloud our desires with fear. Fear leaves us with confusion, fatigue, and a lack of drive to take action towards our goals.

Let’s be honest, you're afraid to say that you want to fall in love. You're afraid to say that you want a thriving career or to live off-grid on a farm with chickens.

You're afraid to say that you want five kids or no kids at all. You're afraid to admit that you want to leave the life you’ve always known to travel the world alone or to travel the world with the family you’ve created. You're afraid to say you want to get married or get divorced, to go back to school at 37, to sell everything and live out of your car on a year-long road trip.

You're afraid to name what your heart is screaming for, because you're too busy, too distracted, living inside what everyone else wants for you. You've replaced your own desires with other people's expectations. You've replaced living your life with performing for others.

Day in and day out you continue to perform what is expected of you rather than taking the necessary steps to bring you closer to making your day dreams a reality.

This is why you feel lost. Not because you don't know, but because you've been lying to yourself about what you really want. You've been trying to force a version of life that you've never truly chosen for yourself.

And here you are, stuck at a crossroad. One road is lined with your people-pleasing, your shoulds, your obligations, and the other is scary as hell because it's yours. Right now, your mind is playing ping-pong between what you want and what you've been told is acceptable.

In between the bills, demands of family and friends, societal standards, wanting more starts to sound ridiculous when you spent your whole life comparing yourself to people who settled. But let me remind you of something real. Your soul did not come here to play by the rules. Look around, you live on a floating rock. Life wasn’t supposed to be mundane.

You didn't come here to be proper, to submit, or to shrink. You came to color outside the fucking lines. You came to create, to splash in the mess, to laugh and live and love wildly.

The status quo is boring as fuck, and we all know that. Your life was never meant to be beige or boring or to settle. So it's not that you don't know what you're doing.

It's that you're too afraid to admit what you want and too afraid to do something about it. So I'm giving you a challenge. Take two days.

No social media, no numbing with alcohol or smoking or people-pleasing, no advice seeking. Just you, your mind, and a piece of paper or your journal. I want you to write down every single thing that you've been too afraid to want, every desire that you've hidden under shame, fear, or the need to be liked.

And once you have those written down, I want you to star the three that feel most like you. The ones that make your chest expand when you read them, the one that lights you up from the inside out. And from there, start building.

Not a five-year plan, not a strategy deck, just a single step in that direction. Because life is way too short to stay confused to keep other people comfortable with you. You don't have to get it all right.

You just have to stop pretending that you're lost when really you're just afraid to walk down the road that brings you closer to your soul's truth and desire. So light that bitch up with your unique color, messy, bold, and unapologetic. Do it when you're scared and keep moving, confused and still creating, uncertain and still fucking trying.

If nothing else, you want to be able to say you at least made an effort rather than sitting in the same spot 5 years later, wondering what would’ve happened if you'd tried.

Feeling the pull for something more is the first step.

Clearing the path to make things happen comes next.
